Homer Simpson

I just need a quick vent - I am TRYING to learn how to like salad. Really. I am. But I am one step above gagging through my lunch today. I didn't always like beer, and I learned how to like beer. Same thing with bloody mary's. Why not salad? I'm even trying to reframe my thinking to "I love salad.". Alright - thats it. I'm trying. I'm trying. I'm trying.

Halfway done. Today's little victory will be if I don't throw up my salad on my desk. It doesn't help that I have this old Simpson's episode in my head where Lisa becomes a vegitarian and Homer & Bart prance around singing a song, "You don't make friends with sal-ad. You don't make friends with sal-ad."

  1. The common denominator with the first two may be the alcohol. I learned to like red wine & dark chocolate, which may have helped me get here! I hope you make that salad your bitch; I'm laughing at myself as I sit here trying to think of snarky one liners about salad:-) My leftover meatloaf (made with leanest of lean beef & turkey) says hello & to come visit soon since you're NOT a vegetarian yourself. Then you can write your own song that you do the cha cha dance too!

  2. What kind of salad are you eating? It could be that you just don't like what you've put in it. I like fresh spinach, mandarin orange slices, sliced almonds, avocado and red onion and raspberry vinagrette salads. so, put thing in that you love. Get a GREAT dressing, but use it sparingly :)

  3. Search the web for some inspiration. If you aren't a fan of salads, the usual "meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, dressing" isn't going to be a turn-on. The mandarin orange sounds good, and I love garbonzo beans in mine. Tex-Mex salads are good too, with black beans and salsa instead of dressing. The good thing about salad is you can put almost anything in it...lettuce doesn't have to be the main attraction!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog! If it makes you feel better, I never eat lettuce. It's so boring! I make salads out of other veggies like tomatoes and green beans or other random combinations. I just can't bring myself to eat a salad with lettuce everyday. I think in my head I feel like I'm dieting and I never want to feel like I'm officially on a diet again! I think that's been my trick for success. I'm not on a diet anymore! I'm just eating to live and be healthy and have energy!
